Similar Artists Website

A while ago now, I stumbled upon a website on the merry old t'interweb'net and on this website I could type in the name of an artists I like, and it would return similar artists that I also might like.

This website was very clever though, and actually pretty accurate. It used a 'web' system so that you could actually see bands further away/closer to the band name you actually typed in the first place.

I forgot all about it though, google returns nothing and I really want it back. So... can anybody help?

I think you're looking for Music Plasma. They seem to have added a film version as well.

Yeah, it's a shame it's not available outside the US - though Last.fm provides a similar (and imo better) service available over here

it's a bit of a taboo subject. they're not legal, but they'e not illegal. they're sharing copyrighted material without an international copyright permitting it, as far as i can remember. i know Gilly knows the details, so i'm sure he'll be along in a bit

Aye, it's covered in the site's FAQ. Basically they only hold the copyright down to a tenuous 'unable to directly play requested music' and they only have that for the US.
