I have no tried offerings from Sonic and Ulead for creating DVD's from several XVid Videos.

Both programs are highly unstable, resource hogs and the final result isnt that good.

I am not interested in fancy menus or anything and can burn to DVD using Nero.

What I need is a program that will take several XVid/DivX videos (maximum of 4 at once) and convert them into a single DVD.

Any recommendations please. :)

Is there not an option within Nero to add and burn more than one file? multisession!

If this is not the case then, one option from off the top of my head would be to convert your Avi's with WinAvi then, use Dvdshrink to back them up as one folder or to disc.

Nero Vision Express will do the job, you can make a dvd with a menu and load up the xvids. It's got a good mpeg encoder (you can vary the bitrate to fit long playing stuff to a single dvd)

brilliant bit of kit.

Or if you aren't sure of the encoder, convert them with tmpegenc, then feed the resulting mpegs into nero vision express and it'll sort out the menus and such for you.
