basically i got a garage bout 150ft down the bottom of my garden, now my mum keeps her car there and i keep my car, bout £500 worth of detailing kit, some pc parts and anything else i need to store there, now i as you might no i got a NAS on the way to network and a giga switch, if i wanted to run a wired cam down to the garage to keep an eye on whats going on inside how would i go about that? would the distance be too great to run one cable?

i would like it to be able to record if needs be, the garage has been broken in to twice since i been using it so bout 15 years (use to keep my twist and go bike in it etc) so would like to record the feed incase some breaks in so i can pass it on to the police etc, what would i need for that or how would i go about it?

been looking at getting D-Link IP Camera (DCS-900), would this give a good image and would i have to IP it or would it be ok to wire it in to the network?

any info would be great guys thanks

One and the same thing surely. an "IP" camera is simply a camera that is a network node (and thus requires an IP address).

150ft is only 42 meters, well under the specifications of ethernet's 100m before repeaters.
