Simple CSS problem

Hopefully this isn't too major and simple to fix.

I've created a css style sheet with the standard a:link etc. I've also made some more as a.menu:link and then on my menu assigned it to menu css.

For some reason, it's not picking up the menu links. Guessing I've done something wrong. Have I used the correct naming?

got it, my code was wrong. I see it should be .menu a:link
