simple e-commerce solution

I need a simple and free e-commerce solution a friend of mine is trying to be a online shop. It will be linked to paypal, but anyone know of a easy way of incorporating a shopping cart?

joomla + virtuemart is the open source one I'd suggest.

Purchase a web hosting package that include cPanel with Fantastico.
Then using fantastico have it automatically install oscommerce,zen cart or probably best for the newbies Cubecart.

Either of those will do the job.

It is of course a matter of opinion.

I'd say Cubecarts admin area is far easier to navigate and less bloated than Zen carts. Which would have me recommend cubecart for those new to shopping carts.

Obviously spending sometime in the admin area of any cart will allow you to fully understand it but cubecart keeps things nice and simple.

If it were me i would use Cre loaded. Its oscommerce with the added contributions that you would normally install saving you the hassle of doing so.
