Hi, This is my first go at overclocking and need some basic advise.
My system
ASUS A8N-E
AMD 64 3700+ San Diego
GEIL 2*1gb pc3200 mem
XFX6800 graphics.
ok, I was informed before I OC I need to reduce some values in the bios so I reduced...
Hyper transport from 5X down to 3X
Dram memclock from 400mhz down to 200mhz
Cpu multiplyer from 11X down to 5X
PCI clock sync from Auto to 33.33
Question 1 - should I reduce all these or not?
Then I was told to up the CPU frequency in steps of 10mhz and stress test.
I made it from 200mhz to 320mhz when it crashed so running stabe at 315.
I was then told to up the Cpu multiplyer. I can get to 8X and then system crashes.
Question 2 - should I put the cpu frequency back down to 200mhz before uping the cpu multiplyer or leave at 315?
Question 3 - Why do I only get to 8X when other people seem to be at 10ish.
Question 4 - do I put all my reduced values from stage1 back up to normal. what is my next step, am I even on the right track????
