Simple question - Adding borders in Photoshop

I've noticed a lot of you have photos with nice clean borders around them

Is there a simple way to do this in Photoshop? (total n00b haha).

Increase the canvas size by 20 or 40 pixels (thats what I use..) and colour the extension whatever your desired colour!
