Simple question for those in the know

I have one of these - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_990FX/

And also one of these - http://uk.tp-link.com/products/details/cat-11_Archer-T9E.html

Can I put the adaptor into any other slot apart from the little PCie x1 slot? It is just that the GPU was covering the slot, so I moved the GPU down one and now it is getting too hot. Ideally want the adaptor below the GPU and as far away as I can.

I think I can?

Keep the graphics card in the primary slot.

If the the other one fits? ...try it

I would leave the gpu in the top slot. The adapter card should fit into the very bottom slot.
