Hi,

I can use any MS OS. I suspect that I must use the 64bit versions of the OSs. So I guess Vista Ultimate 64 is my best bet ?????

I plan to run upto 16GB RAM, although 8GB at present for running virtual pcs.

While I started to think that I would use windows 2008 with Hyper-V, I am now coming away from that in favour of Vista with VirtualPC due to lack of 2k8 support for my Asus P5Q-EM Mobo. I may however implement a dual boot setup with the option of going into W2K8. I would then try to use the P5Q-EM Vista drivers with this and hopefully it will work.

But I guess Vista 64 or 32 will get all the features out the P5Q-EM.

Comments really appreciated pls,

Sam

Vista drivers will work fine with 2k8 server, and you have to use 64bit really for over 3GB of RAM.

rypt, thanks for the quick reply.

So Vista 64 or W2K8 64 are my options?

and if I am feeling really cautious then implement both via a dual boot setup?

Sam

Well, "right now" those are your two options, give it 6-8 months and we will have Windows 7 (and Server 2008 R2) out. Dual booting the two should not be a problem as the Windows installer is pretty good at sorting out dual boot with other Windows systems.
