Hi guys,

About to replace a heatsink but want to put new thermal paste on for a laptop and just wondering if i can use my Artic Silver 5 that and if i can how much do i put on as i have noticed the CPU is smaller than i5 processor.

Thanks

Same principle, just quite a bit less paste, you don't want it to leak too far over the CPU die (shiny bit). Sometimes less is more, particularly in direct contact between CPU-Heatsink

Thankyou!, i know it's a nooby question but it's better to be safe than sorry! :)

I've seen loads of laptops that have far too much paste applied, and that's from the factory! - it really is just a tiny surface area that makes contact

I did notice an excess amount of paste on this one too that's what made me curious, but i'll do the same procedure as all other CPU's and i can't go wrong :)
