Ok, probably not so simple, I have a bare Ubuntu server I want to host a couple of domains for myself and my family on so I need to get it configured to allow domain hosting from scratch, currently it only has Apache installed, anyone know of any guides on a simple method to get everything I need (name/mail server, PHP, MySQL and something like Webmin/ISPconfig) running in the right order?

Many thanks

first things first :) get LAMP on there incase you need to use any php my sql etc... to many guide on the internet to count just google LAMP, next webmin is also easy, on ubuntu its a few simple commands outlined on there website

http://www.webmin.com/deb.html is a good place to start, next you need to sort out domains etc.. if its going to be a simple Dynamic domain i.e no-ip.com or you have proper domain you want to set up :) hope this helps start you off, if you need anything else type back :)

The bit I'm confused about is assigning a a master domain to the IP and setting up nameservers based on that domain so I can point everyone elses domain to it and set up hosting for them.

Do u have the domains already and do u want to host the DNS yourself ?

Ull need to make sure u have bind installed althou its installed by default on most servers anyways. Not used ubuntu server so can't say for sure

Webmin can help u configure your DNS for your domains

If you are hosting the dns do u have 2 servers with static Ips to use ?

A lot of domain places can host the dns for you so that might be an option to you

I have found email to be a right pain to setup. If anybody has any good guides I would (And the OP I assume) much appreciate it! I've got most of it setup but couldn't get the authentication going.
