Hi guys,
A family friend has been using an Orange Livebox for a week now, despite going against my advice and signing up to another 18 month contract with them, but anyway. He’s set it up okay and thought that it could totally replace his trusty Netgear DG843G on his small home network. However, the wireless on the Livebox doesn't appear to like his Mesh laptops… if he does connect, it drops off within about 20 seconds, but most of the time the Laptops can’t even see the Livebox.
My suggestion is to use the Livebox as a sort of stand alone DSL modem and then he can also use the free phone calls thing that you get with Orange. I intend to disable everything else; DHCP, wireless etc, so as to avoid any conflicts.
Then I should be able to just plug the Netgear into the Livebox and use the Netgear for wireless and DHCP. Does that make sense? Have a look at my diagram; sorry for the bad quality, it took me about 2 seconds to do in paint

He also mentioned that the file sharing he has between his Vista desktop and XP laptop didn't seem to work with the Livebox in place, hopefully going back to the Netgear will sort everything out
I'd appreciate your thoughts guys.
Cheers,
SW.
