Hi All

I've been tasked with the job of sorting out the image library at work with a view to making it searchable and organised etc, which is great as it's normally me that ends up dragging through hundreds of folders trying to find photos for publications.

Pretty much everything is stored in a photo library within Sharepoint so the task shouldn't be too big apart from some good organisation and some time.

My main concern is the effective use of tagging/key words for searching. I realise this can be done from within Windows 7 but it is a little clunky, especially when it comes to tagging a large batch of images.

I know there are various bits of software available which can be used but what I am looking for is something really simple and quick.

Ideally I don't want any options for editing the photos, as that will be done on a per photo basis (using Photoshop) as and when they are used in a publication, and as these photos will be the 'originals' i don't want them messed with.

Can anyone recommend any really simple basic tagging software?

Thanks

I know LR allows batch IPTC tagging, also the GIMP strips IPTC information the last I checked so although it has powerful batch tools it wont work.

For most things requiring a batch I always recommend Image Magick, pretty sure it supports IPTC editing.

Thing is they are all a little ott on the functionality front, in an ideal world I'd like an image version of mp3tag,

Esentially what I want to do is simply:
Drag a folder onto it, it lists the files, select the ones I want to tag, write tags in a box (chosing previously used ones from a drop down if possible) then hit save.
