One of my jobs this week was to install a small WIFI network which the user had attempted to but failed.

In the home is a base unit and laptop.

Obviously this is a simple task to me and you so set up the router and encryption via the laptop. I always run adaware and spybot on the users system to check for problems and it found some adware which it removed and the network worked faultlessly.

Had a look at the base unit and TCP/IP wasnt installed.

So I installed it which caused further problems.

I have the PC back to base now and am checking it over.

Ideally I would like to repair as apposed to reinstall as the user cannot find their original discs and I don't think they would foot the bill of a reinstallation.

I used chkdsk to repair the disk and it booted fine. It boots really slowly but after about 5mins runs at full speed.

Now I am pretty sure this is all related to the TCP/IP service.

It is now installed but It cannot be started giving error code "10022"

Any ideas on this chaps?

I think I fixed this problem once by uninstalling tcp/ip completely and the network drivers, then reinstalling them in that order. Tbh, its easier to reinstall xp, but you could also try system file checker (dunno if that will do much though).

Try this - LSPFIX & readme and winsock fix & info & directions.

Found out it was F11 on this Packard Bell to run the system recovery program.

So doing that atm, I'm sure it will cure it.
