Right I have just got Vista Business onto a machine and joined it to our domain. I just want to have a play with group policy and see how it works differently to XP etc.

But........How do I load GPMC on the vista box?

i think you might need win2003 sp2 (only beta at the moment) for vista group policy support. also the adminpak.msi in the sp2 download can be installed on vista - not sure if gpmc can though?

:)

Do you mean you want to run gpmc on the vista box or just practice applying policies to it?

Just practice with policies. But group policies not local ones.

You can play with the local policies by loading an mmc. Have you tried putting the computer in an ou with a policy and see what happens?

It may work! In fact i suspect it will work with most policy settings.

It probably will work but I want to play with the new policies that come with vista.

As far as I know you can't load the new vista policies into GPMC. Or am I wrong in saying that? I can't seem to find any adm files anywhere because I think vista uses different formats
