Simplest CPanel-type software for web/FTP?

I've been using Webmin and some tinkering in SSH to set up web accounts for friends, but I'm finding it a tad frustrating and am unable to get anyone to help me out as they just don't have the Linux skills. So I need an alternative

I've previously used cPanel elsewhere, but it's commercial and as I'm not making any money from this (just letting friends/nonprofits etc use some spare capacity) I don't really want to be paying out for a cPanel license.

So is there a good alternative?

I just want the simplest software that can allow me to set up a user quickly with minimal interaction to create an account which then allows them to login and do their own Database, FTP and Email user management

I've tried Froxlor but it just didn't seem to do what I needed: it still needs too much user involvement and seems fiddly: folders and permissions need to be set up manually for each user

I tried Virtualmin on Webmin, but again it needs the user to visit too many places to set up a new site, which gives too many places for it to go wrong.

Is there a one-stop shop for this? I've just found centos-webpanel which looks like it might be a good alternative, but I've not had a chance to dig into it properly yet: already, though, it seems that it's a jumble of different file manager, DNS manager etc rather than a single solution

Anyone got any experience with these kinds of things?

There's not a lot of free options.

I'm a big advocate of Virtualmin tbh.

I'm not sure how you need to visit to many pages to create a new site.

Hit Create virtual server on the right hand side and fill in a few details which does everyything including creating a database and the first email account, which you can specify under advanced options
