I was considering giving it a go yesterday but got put off. Just thought I'd install it and never play it.

Does anyone here actually play it and is it as good as it could be?

I was reading about all the add on packs and like the idea of your character becoming a vampire etc etc.

I'm thinking I might be looking for something to fill the gap between now and Spore. I remember back in the day I used to enjoy a good bash on Creatures 3. Think I'm just coming round to fancying this sort of game again.

You reckon the Sims could be it?

I got this for my missus when it came out, and added the expansion packs, University/Open for Business/Pets and the other one I cannot remember.

She loves it, and has downloaded some contents for it. I have played it a couple of times, and it can be addictive, but at the same time very repetative.

Good way of passing the time though.

Haven't played the second one - but have a decent knowledge of the first ones that came out. Needless to say I still remember coming home excited at my purchase, only to realize I had bought the expansion pack without having the full game.

I wasn't 'living it up', at all.

It can get very boring and the same old same old - but alright if you enjoy toying with other peoples lives. The designing of the house aspect is always the best bit.

Same sentiments as everyone here really..

Seems like the best thing ever when you first play it but the novelty soon disappears and it gets rather boring.

Gets boring, but fun to play for an hour once a week or whatever... just don't play the game until you're bored of it - quit while you're still having fun, if you know what I mean lol. Otherwise it'll get 4 hours straight of gameplay then never get touched again :p

I didn't like it, because your characters "grow up" far too quickly, which means you can't do as much with them as in the first game. I've only played the basic game, without the expansions. I felt that it was missing loads compared to even the original with Livin' it Up, as they obviously planned on most of the content coming from expansions.

My wife loves, she has even started to tell me release dates for new expansions.

Tell me about it, as soon as a new expansion is announced i'm expected to put down a pre-order, if i dont i'll get evils until i relent :p

only bonus is that it gives me something to throw back at her when i'm accused of playing WoW too much.

It's a good game. To some it's a virtual doll's house and to some it's a virtual get laid as many times as you can simulator.

It does become boring (as already stated) and the regime of constantly trying to satisfy all of your Sim's needs does become one heck of a chore. It's also a bugger of a resource hog.

chimaera in wife AND WoW shocker.

May have something to do with the fact i've gone up 2 levels in the past 2 months :p i've seen people create new characters and get to lvl 70 before i've gone from 52 to 53 :(

Seems more like a girls game than anything. I tried playing it but found it repetitive - wake up, go to toilet, make breakfast, go to work/school, come home, eat, sleep, repeat.

My niece, however, loves it, and I put together a computer from my old upgraded parts, which she continues to play it on. So, more than likely, very much a girls game.
