OK, So I'll admit, I had no idea what happened to the Sims 2 since it came out, but after running a search on a competitor I was stunned to find the following.

The Sims 2: £19.99
The Sims 2: H&M Fashion Stuff (Sims 2 H & M Add-On) £7.99 Delivered
The Sims 2: Seasons (Expansion Pack) £14.99 Delivered
The Sims 2: University (Expansion Pack) £9.99 Delivered
The Sims 2: Pets (Expansion Pack) £14.99 Delivered
The Sims 2: Nightlife (Expansion Pack) £14.99 Delivered
The Sims 2: Bon Voyage (Expansion Pack) £14.99 Delivered
The Sims 2: Open For Business (Expansion Pack) £14.99 Delivered
The Sims 2: Christmas Party Pack £9.55
The Sims 2: Celebration Stuff £7.99 Delivered
The Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff (Add-On) £7.99 Delivered
The Sims 2: Glamour Life Stuff (Expansion Pack) £7.99 Delivered
The Sims 2: Festive Holiday Stuff (Expansion Pack) £7.99 Delivered

Now **** Me!

I'm sorry but that is absolutely ridiculous. I reckon most of the £7.99 ones are complete conns and probably add little to the game. I mean who the hell actually pays (wait a sec) £151 on a game!? Why haven't EA compressed them down into smaller expansion packs, OR alternatively released a "Sims 2 Complete Edition" boxset or something?

It annoys me because ploys from companies like EA in this regard fuel piracy as people who might be tempted to buy the game resort to acquiring it through illegal methods.

Jesus I still can't get over that list. Any I missed out?

I played the original loads after discoverting The Sims Resource and downloading loads of cool unofficial objects.

It would have been a good game but you had to spend far too much time making your ****** sim go to the toilet/eat/drink/sleep etc etc. I actually enjoyed the game when I go this thing off the net where you'd put your sim in it and receive full on everything.

what I hate is walking into a games shop, going to the single aisle of PC games, and not being able to move for copies of The Sims and its 1 million and 1 expansion packs ;)

I've just read some reviews and they confirm my thoughts. The majority of the expansions add hardly anything, in many cases just a few objects. It is just filthty business tactics by EA. I absolutely loathe and despise that company. Why can't those Muslims go and bomb EA instead?

I hope not otherwise no crysis, maybe after crysis is released but not before.

I wouldn't be surprised if Crysis doesn't turn out to be the wonder game everyone is expecting. Far Cry absolutely blew me out of the water when it came out.

Think of other companies EA took over.

The ruined C&C Generals. It is possibly the worst scripted game ever and constantly jams/errors during mulitiplayer games.

They destroyed MAXIS who used to make the best strategy games around.

etc etc

I don't play the sims but yes it is EA, that is what happens when companies get greedy. Alough EA being the biggest games publisher they still want more money. Im afriad they prioritize everything over the customer which is completely wrong.

EA are scum !

They sponge money off everyone but in the end we can only blame ourselves

Look at the fifa series. They hog the fifpro license and hog all the reals strips/sponsors/names and release constant rubbish.

Fifa has been guff for years now but EA know it will sell because of real teams etc.

Dont even get me started on C&C, tiger woods etc

I remember xmas a few years back me and a mate got addicted to one of the PS2 Tiger Woods games. We decided to go out and buy the new one.

It went back the same day. It was that bad.

Filthy tactics??
I don't see EA holding a gun to anyone's head and forcing them to buy anything.
I also don't see one expansion pack where it doesn't say on the back exactly what you're getting for your money.

So EA are doing what every other company is doing with regards expansion packs, releasing them, not forcing you to buy them and telling you on the box exactly what it contains.
*Bad EA*

EA bashing is becomming almost as fashionable as AOL and MS bashing of old.
Personally I find it all rather boring...

EA are only publishing Crysis they dont own Crytek and i dont think they have too much influence on its development

but i fear its only a matter of time before they gobble them up and then that's another great developer gone :(

EA bashing is justified they have killed almost every single franchise/developer they have gotten their hands on

I don't bash EA because it's fashionable. They genuinely annoy me.

Filthy tactics is exactly what it is. Many people are forced to buy the expansion packs. That might be through addiction, or it might be kids begging mummy and daddy to spend yet another wadge of cash on another expansion pack which gives you absolutely **** all.

If EA weren't tossers they would simply reduce the amount of expansion packs and give you better value for money on each.

You forgot Sims 2: Castaway, which is due for release in October / November time.
They have to make some extra cash to tie them over until they release The Sims 3 in 2009!

The Bon Voyage pack is released in September, Castaway in October and the H&M pack was just out in June. Now why can't Valve do that with their Half Life 2 content. :p

I spose you buy the addons you want, ie the pets on seems fun :)

Instead of thinking "oh i must by them all", just think "oh i like the look of that one"

Well I'm hoping someone in the MM can sell me the actual game cheaply then maybe I can pickup Nightlife and Pets somewhere else. Luckily The Sims Resource has thousands of stuff to keep on entertained and subscription is only about £5 for 2 months.

Not quite sure if it's worth the investment. But I've had an operation and I can't go out/do anything for another week :( Bored stupid.

cant blame EA imho. They are smart. lets face it, there are a HUGE amount of people who never gets bored of that game and keeps on buying them up. So EA is definitely gonna earn a pile from those addicts :)

I don't know whats more amusing here. The fact that Tommy B appears to have missed the point that EA Games are a business who must answer to their shareholders and generate maximum profit, or the fact that Tommy B actually plays The Sims.
