As some may remember I recently broke my motherboard and ended up changing it to an Asus P5Q recently. Anyway, since then the Sims 3 has stopped working. It simply "pauses" a few times at the initial loading screen and menu, then locks-up the whole PC. I have the latest chipset drivers and have even tried a fresh install of windows. My girlfriend returns from working abroad in 3 weeks and I know she is going to want to play the Sims (probably a lot!). Anyone got any ideas on what I can try next?

Yep, made no difference. Makes me think it must be a bios/driver update that is needed OR a recent driver change has messed it up. May roll back my ATI drivers.

do you play any other more graphically intense games? maybe try running a 3d mark 2006 or vantage benchmark if you havent got one.

Metro 2033, Left 4 Dead 2 and Champions Online are the most recent games I have played. Will pull out my benchmarks later to see how they run. Will then clean my drivers and try an older set. 10.4s used to work well for me.
