Sims 3 installation problems - Help please

I am trying to install the sims 3 on my other computer for my sister.

Everytime I run the installer it says "are you sure you want to completely remove the application.. etc" before I get chance to select anything else.

So I said ok to remove it, then ran the installer again, asked me to remove it again.

It did look like it was installed before or atleast half installed. It had a directory but no application to run it.

I've done everything I can to "uninstall" it, removed via controll pannel, used uninstaller, deleted all sims 3files I could find with search and even deleted all the sims 3 registery files.

Rebooted the computer after I did all that and same problem, I even uninstalled sims 2 aswell incase that was conflicting with it.

But now I'm stuck.

Any ideas ?

Btw the pc is running XP 32 bit, don't think any other specs matter.

dont know if this will work but sometimes theres different installers in some games, browse to the disk and open it in a folder and look for a different setup option, hope this helps

Yeah I did try exploring the dvd for different installers / uninstallers, there was only one. Thanks though.

You could try the Windows installer Cleanup utility

silly question but does the pc have a dvd rom drive or cd rom

This game can be really funny with some dvd drives.. see if you can poach one out of another system just to check if that fixes it.

DvD drive. I'm going to try the Windows installer Cleanup utility.

Edit: The cleanup utility didn't work, Sims 3 didn't show up in the installed programs list.

As Dreadhead said, swap out the dvd drive to one you know that it installs with
