My nipper wants sims3, she currently has a q6600, 2gig of ram and a 7900gs all pushing a screen res of 1600 x 900 - is the pc man enough to run this game at the screens native resolution?

All feedback gratefully received - no one will be maligned for playing sims 3;)

Its not a very well coded game, as in you will get slow downs when you view the city but other than that it will run fine at good settings - would recommend upping the ram however.

Last time I checked Sims3 had a problem with forcing the graphics card to render at the maximum framerate, despite the fact that the game itself only uses 30 frames per sec (it's not a shooter after all, so it doesn't need more). This supposedly caused graphics cards to run hotter than needed and die sooner. To fix this the sims fans I know tend to run it with 3booter and a framerate limiter.

edit: here, i found the link to explain what I'm on about:

BTW, watch out if you ask questions on that forum: a few of them are rather elitist and will criticise anything they see as a "noob question" - not very helpful but sadly more and more places on the net seem to be becoming that way. *shrug*

cheers Stickman - much appreciated - I do have an atermarket cooler on the GPU which keeps the idle temp down to 42ish C - Max I have seen is 65ish unders futuremark2006. Would this help keep the card alive?

Cheers
