Simultaneous provide code - A what???

So one of our offices moved on Friday. I arranged with BT to move the phone on this date and told our ISP that we were moving on this date.

Friday comes and goes and phone is fine but no internet. I use the online chat system that takes an age and my ISP asks me what the Sim reference number is - now until then I had no idea what this number meant.

My ISP tells me I should have had a Sim reference number from BT. I ring BT to ask them why I wasn't provided with one and they say they don't provide unless asked. How am I supposed to know to ask unless someone tells me to ask.

At first I thought typical BT if they can screw up they will but now I'm thinking if my ISP wanted this number they should have told me right at the start.

Our ISP tells us its 6 working days from yesterday or pay £180 for it to be fast tracked. But there is no guarantee and at the moment the line isn't showing as having moved so they can't do anything.

Am I in the right to think the ISP should have told us they needed this reference number?
