Hi. I've got a laptop with wirelss and it has a dock which has ethernet. I've connected the dock to a wireless router and it's the same one that the wirelss connects to.

My question is, when the laptop is connected both with wireless and ethernet to the same router, what does it use for internet? the wireless has a different ip address to the wired if it makes a difference.

does it automatically switch to the faster one? just want to know if i'm wasting my time switching wireless off when i connect it to the dock.

thjanks.

It should default to the wired connection.

Not sure how you could check this though. Maybe download something and see if the Lan light blinks on the router or the wireless.

Can you not check the throughput on both adapters?
I think you can do both connections in Task Manager. Or check Packets sent and received whilst in Local Area Connection Status (or something similar). Best to do it while maybe viewing a video on yootoobe or similar.
