Since upgrade to Win 7 faster network speeds

I have finally upgraded my Win XP pc to windows 7. I also added a new hdd.

I have noticed that my download speeds are hitting my max speeds, where before it wasnt this fast....

Is it Windows 7 that has increased my speeds or the new hdd?

More likely improved drivers, remember XP is 10 years old, most drivers would probably not have been updated for several years.

I have both xp and 7 installed on my laptop, and also have quicker downloads speed on 7 over xp

The network stack was completely re written for win 7 and is much more efficient than XP ever was.

I'd put this down to bad drivers..
