Sold my iPod on Fleabay for about £150 a few weeks back. I today get a bill for £15. WTF. Since WHEN did eBay start charging 10% of the item's final value as a bill. I used to sell stuff all the time a few years back and had respectable bills.

Is this normal or have they made a mistake?

Just wait... the buyer will no doubt file a dispute for their money back within another week or 2... dunno why anyone uses ebay any more.

about usual.
sold £75 laast month and they want 9.68.
It all depends how you sale it and what listings you do.
Still worth it, still got far more and far faster than selling it else where.
I use buy it now with offer and it's certainly not the cheapest way to list/sell thing on teh bay.

What angers me most is I read the emails they send me and I was not made aware by fees of 10% I've no idea how long it has been that way as I hadn't sold anything this year.

Surely you agreed to all the listing fees etc?

I've used eBay on and off for 6 years now and assumed the fees wouldn't have changed. Firms are supposed to keep customers apprised of changes in fees, not expect them to check the small print every 14 days.

Just sent them a complaint expressing how utterly ridiculous it is. I won't be using eBay to sell again.

Good luck selling things as fast and for as much other than ebay.
As far as I see it. If I can get as much for items else where then I'll sale them else where. Like in the MM. If I can't then I'll sale them on ebay and after fees will make just as much if not more than selling them else where. Some items are almost impossible to sale anywhere other than ebay.

They do as well as many other things. if you read the emails then you would know whats changed.

This caught me by suprise this week also. :(

Sold a couple of things for a relative, checked what would come out from the paypal as fees and nearly had a fit when it was 10%. I haven't used for a while and was pretty sure the final fees were never this much.

For that reason I prefer throwing some things away as opposed to getting nothing from eBay. The 10% final valuation fee, free listings at 99p, catagories where you HAVE to use Paypal (only) and catagories where postage can't be charged have really combined to really shaft the occasional seller.

selling games/dvds etc now seems pointless for ones you would normally sellf for £1-£2 etc as you cant charge any postage, to cover your self you ideally have to send via recorded.

once you add all the paypal, ebay and postage fees you end up paying more than what the item sold for to send it.

I'm sorry I get the impression you're defending them. It's completely unjust. Surely you can see that!? They only do it because they can get away with it because of their monopoly position.
