single beep?

Basically been roped into sorting neighbours comp out,its an old athlon and its now having problems booting,basically it gives a beep of about 2-3 seconds with a gap of roughly 10 seconds between beeps,ive checked all conections inside and out but nothing,it will boot occasionally but becomes unstable when it does.Any ideas?

Try reseating ram, video card & the cpu

find out what bios it is then the the beep codes, that will tell you what the issue could be.

Ahh right,ill do that thanks,i reseated all the main components bar the cpu.
