which single card is best bang for buck to game at 1650x1050

8800gt or 3850 512mb or 256mb?

not intrested in multiple vga at moment.

8800gt is not best bang for buck at it's inflated price levels it's about 1000 marks better overclocked than an overclocked 8800gts which you could get second hand for £120.
So i would say best bang for buck is the 8800gts or even x1900xt second hand.
Crysis =25 fps on high for gts and the gt is 30 fps do the math under any circumstance do not pay more than £150 for a GT.

You forgot to mention that if you buy a second-hand GTS then you have the disadvantage of your warranty being completely void and that, believe it or not, you can also buy GTs second-hand too.

If you buy certain brands the warranty is transferable though.
At it's real price £130-£150 the gt is best bang for buck but at the mo you are looking at around £190-£200 delivered which just isn't worth it.

IIRC Gibbo said that the XFX one had a transferable warranty but it turned out that it was not applicable to people outside the U.S.

I agree with that too. I've gone over the price budget by paying about £160 inc for mine and even I think that's tipping the scale a bit. I think £150 inc is alright.

Well i have never had a gpu die on me touch wood if i had a choice between £120 delivered for a gts and £200 delivered for a gt i'd go with the gts.You can only lose if you pay approaching £200 for a GT and in a very short time period. You'll be seeing vanilla gt for £135 in a month hell there's already one for £139 now.

£200 for a GT? I've talked to some people who got it 150-160 quid delivered, I got mine for £183 delivered, once the prices come down it will be the best bang for buck, I spoke on the tinternet with someone who has a heavily overclocked GTS at like 710 core and a GT at like 700+ and he said thre was minimal difference between the 2.

You do realise you're going to take a performance hit untill you get a second one right?
