Single most expensive component you've bought?

£270 for a second hand Sony Trinitron 21" monitor (still in use and probably my greatest single purchase considering how long it's lasted).

£230 for a (recently retired) Ricoh DVD reader/CD-RW. It seemed to be only a fortnight later that prices plummeted to £30 for DVD-RW, and I wasn't happy about that.

Going from Athlon TBird up to A64 (s939) was a very expensive upgrade split across several components, and it looks like ANOTHER mobo/chip/ram (no vidcard thank god) upgrade is going to be in the offing again soon, which I'm not exactly looking forward to.

Most I paid for a monitor was £1500 for a sony SDM-P234. As for an internal component I paid £750 for an x6800 (last August).

£587.49 for a BFG 8800 GTX Silent Watercooled Edition on the 12/06/06, i'm still happy with my purchase. Thanks OCuk :D

I paid about £500 for a Tascam US-2400 control surface.
Also about £450 for a V7 27" LCD.
Most expensive internal component was probably my Adaptec 29160 SCSI card which was somewhere in the region of £150 - £200.

My graphics card definitly..... XFX 6800 GT over a year ago lol 340 pounds!

Now its a paper weight.

At that price it must have been about three years ago surely, I paid less than that over two and a half years ago. A year ago you'd have been looking at a 7900GTX or X1950XT for that sort of money unless I've got my timescales massively wrong. :)

Radeon 9800 XT - £332

Was a lot of money, back when they were the top of the range card, and i can say one thing too.

Worth every penny

£630 for two 16MB sticks of RAM for my P90, at least 10 years ago. Ah student loans. I hope you whipper snappers apreciate how good you've got it.
