What's the fastest single slot gfx card currently available ?

Has to be air cooled and not much wider than 1 PCI-E slot

I'm pretty sure it's a reference 4850.

Such as: Powercolor 1GB 4850

I have a 9800 GT but want something better that's only 1 slot wide and wont exceed my 300W psu limitations

Well you're out of luck, 9800GT/4850 are pretty similar in terms of speed and there's nothing faster with a single slot cooler iirc.

Have you got space above the card? One of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-053-TR&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=787 will only take up a single slot when fitted so it wraps around it.

i would ideally like a 250, that cooler doesn't support anything better than the 9800

It will however work on a 4870 which is a worthwhile upgrade from your card (just) whereas a 250GTS is barely any faster.

if i can get this to run with that cooler and not exceed my 300w psu with a Q9550 and 4gb of ram i'd be happy
