Asking for a friend.
Wants to know what is recommended psu for a single titan x. Leaving headroom for overclocking the whole system, i.e. Cpu, memory
Doesn't plan to sli.
But wants psu that will power any single chip graphics card setup with everything OCd. So doesn't have to upgrade psu in future.
Thanks

750 - 850 would be a good choice yes. Make sure it is a good quality/ decent brand one though.
Never ever ever ever ever scrimp on PSU.

If budget allows perhaps he should go a bit more wattage, which will allow for possibly running 2 cards in the future. Just a thought.

I expect to be running mine on a 460W PSU, but I won't be overclocking and I run a low-power CPU. My 780 Ti with the same power requirement runs just fine.

As you're just buying one might as well buy the best your budget allows, at least that allows for upgrades down the line etc.

In terms of wattage, a 400w decent unit will chug a TX with ease, like one of those superflower passive ones ;)

Buy the best PSU your budget allows.

Who knows? Your friend might decide to give the Titan some sibling company at some point.

Just get a 1000w, getting mine was best thing I did, now iv got enough power to upgrade any parts I want without having to buy a new psu. Yeah you'll save 20 quid or so getting 800w over a 1000w but will cost more to change the psu if you ever want to Install more gpus

everyone is right, I would get a corsair ax1500i or evga 1600w G2 to compensate the cost of the titan and for future proofing, the 400-500w recommendation was on the basis of what will run it
