single Vs dual channel

upto now ive been using a pair of ocz pc6400 1gb sticks in single mode fairly happily, purely out of curiosity i switched them to dual to see if there was any difference iam a utter noob with ram settings so its all a bit of a experiment to me.

ran 3dmark 06 a few times in single mode - average score 13216
again with dual - - average score 13428

3dmark 03 gained a similar amount as did the x3 demo test bench

just a coincidence? are there any real advantages or problems with either setting?

e6600 @ 3.1ghz 1.3v
2x 8800gts 320 sli (stock)

No reason to run in single-channel since dual-channel gives a little bit of free perfromance.
