I really want to change my HDD in my 40gb PS3, I've been putting it off for ages. I have quite a few singstar songs downloaded, can these be saved and transferred over to the new HDD or do I have to download them again?

Whats the best method of doing this and backing up my other game saves? More concerned about the Singstar purchases and not wanting to end up having to buy them all again.

As far as im aware you can just re download them to your new hard drive. Its your username and individual ps3 that are registered to PSN Store.
 
yes you can redownload them from within Singstar where the option is to show your downloaded singstar songs, same place as add songs and purchase, option is along the bottom on singstar. I did this and it took nearly all day to download about 80 tracks, be warned you cannot cue all of them up in one go, depends how many you have

As previously stated the download is tied to your PS3 and you are allowed to download it as many times as you like on that machine. You're allowed to download it on up to 5 different machines, but even then if you 'deactivate' one of them in account management you are refunded one of your 5 tickets.
 
Singstar songs are different they are only allowed on the one console ID, like Warhawk. If your console breaks and is replaced or you buy a new one you have to contact Sony to get the licence swapped or refund so you can redownload them to the new console
 
thanks for that was worried I was going to lose them all trying to back them up lol, just going to order a new HDD then and get it all done. Bit of a pain not being able to add them all to download manager and leave it going through the day.
 
just fitted my new 160gb HDD and have got all my Singstar stuff back and saves etc etc, thanks for all the info above
