Hi All,

We are needing to replace our worktops, at the same time we also want to replace the stainless steel sink with a slightly nicer looking one.

Have people had any experience with FRANKE sinks particularly the following:

I will be getting as company in to chance the worktops and re-fit a sink, reading reviews it seems tricky...although unsure if this is just inept people?

Any others I should be looking at with a similar finish/look?

Thanks

Franke sinks are very good quality and used to be the top premium brand (used to sell kitchens 10 years ago) i've actually had an old ex-display stainless steel one sitting in the garage for 10 years and (apart from the off scratch) it still looks as good as it done on the display kitchen

I have a Franke Basis 1.5 Bowl Granite Onyx Black which I bought it from TapsUK (the place that you linked to above).

We really like it and it seems very well made, incredibly hard wearing and scratch resistant! The only slight negative is that if you leave water to dry on the sink, it leaves the sink looking white and powdery. I think this is a common problem with these dark stone sinks though, not Franke specific. Every so often, I give the sink a good clean and apply baby oil all over, this makes it look like brand new again.

To note, my mother-in-law has a Franke sink designed by Porsche which comes with a twist to open/close drain as well as all kinds of draining boards, chopping boards, etc and she hates it. The twist drain thing broke very quickly and all the accessories get in the way. Having used it too, I agree with her.

The only other brand which I saw as being comparable is Carron Phoenix:

I've had one in an old flat going strong for circa 4years, and one in a new house and both fine. As above I believe they're a "leading brand". Both mine have been stainless steel types however.

Thanks for the feedback, seems I may not go far wrong with a FRANKE sink.

The other made SCHOCK is a German manufacturer so I can only assume high quality also.

Our new build house came with Franke sinks (didn't get to pick) and they seem fine and more solid than what we've had previously.

We have just had the Franke Sirius single bowl installed in our utility and it's a nice sink. I'm not convinced it wont mark/stain yet, but seems ok for now. We got it from Taps UK and the service was excellent.

Bear in mind that the one you linked to is the reversible version so will have tap holes on both sides. They do slightly get round this by including a waste actuating dial instead of a blanking plug, but if I had realised I'd have got a none reversible one or a blank sink (no holes) as the dial is a bit big and not that attractive. You could opt not to install it and just use a blanking plate, it's a bit pointless anyway.

Got this one in new kitchen, quality seems good but not a fan of the gripper style teeth system, get the fitment right or it squashes the grippers.

Old sink from 8 years ago screwed in against the worktop which seemed a better grip, and was less forgiving when you tried to size the "fit".

Have the same sink and agree, mine has also leaked on the seal between the bowl and frame before now!

My Smeg sink arrived today and I'm impressed - solidly made, really good-sized basins and feels like a quality product.

A third of the price of equivalent Franke and Blanco and well worth what I paid.

Franke sinks are nice, but we just grabbed a sexy big Kohler which is much nicer!

It's huge at 860mm wide and will be fantastic to have the additional space along with an insinkerator and the Quooker.

Good value at £400 and comes with a wooden chopping board, and 2 sunken trays (one with drain holes) that will sit on the lip of the worktop (sink will be undermounted).
