Just had a bit of a fright when my PC, idling away doing nothing, started to make a high pitched siren sound.. constant pitch, constant noise, not two tone.
A swift blow to the power switch and off it fows and the post mortem starts. It boots ok, went into BIOS and left idling for 30 mins and temps seem ok.
Looked in case and all fans are going... EXCEPT the PSU fan. This is either a really easy win in the sense that the problem is identified OR do these things only spin up the fans when the temps go up? it's a BFG 800W thing, part of a system supplied complete and built by OC (the 6600 o'ced to 3.0gHz one).
Thanks in advance for any pointers.

I hope you have a surge protector! I remember a guy on here ended up with 4 broken pc's after a lightning storm struck near him!
