Sister wants a camera...

So my sister says she has been inspired my my pictures and wants to get a camera for the family her pets and Christmas. I sense she wants something a little more advanced than a point and shoot and has a budget of £100-150 for some thing second hand. As I know nothing about the camera market today what should she be looking at?

Hmm. Last-generation micro 4/3 body and kit lens perhaps? Fairly outrageous value, quite small, lots of amateur-friendly features but full manual control if desired.

The nikon V1's are great value and the range is getting bigger and better; can be had quite cheap if you look around and within your budget
