It's alright for a first site, but even though this might only be your first site but here's a few things to consider:
  • The text has awful compression
  • the logo doesn't look inline with the sidebar below which looks odd
  • too much whitespace, which doesn't work
  • "..." what are the dots for lol
  • Sidebar could be wider
  • The colour scheme is a bit plain/not very inviting.
  • Get some more padding in the content

If they seem a bit harsh, I'm sorry but they're just some pointers I had to be honest about, moving forward is the key :)

Its all good no need to appologise, il never get any better if people just sit and kiss my arse :) the dots are the only way i could get my menu spaced it was driving me up the wall and there what i came up with :p

If you tell us what your intentions are:

E.g.
1) Accessible for all (DDA Act)
2) Use of css (table-less web site)
3) Simple content

etc..

Then we could validate the implementation against specification.

On a general look, it's uncluttered, I would change the text in a graphic at the top to real resizable text. A printing css always gives you credit.

But it's got lots of potential. Well done.
