Hi All,

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this before i contact the DVLA and ask tomorrow,

My girlfriend wants me to sit in with her while she learns to drive, she has full insurance so obviously just needs someone with a full UK license for at least 3 years and is over 21.

Now I am 22 but I lost my license in 2010, got 6 points and hadn't held my license for 2 years, passed originally in 2009. I passed again in march 2011 and received my full uk license back. So technically I have held a license for over 3 years if you include before I lost it and the coming up 2 years I have now.

Now on the front it has my new pass date (march 2011) but on the back it still has my old pass date meaning I would have held my license for 4 years this year.

Am I eligible to sit in with my girlfriend or would you not take the risk?

Thanks, Sam

Spoke to DVLA this morning and was told its from the new pass date and any expierance before hand is irrelevent.

Looks like she will have to wait until next year :/

No offense, but losing your license due to accruing too many points, perhaps you're not a good person to have overseeing a learners driving.

Why not just a standard instructor?

+1..

Do you really think you can control the car when sitting in the passenger seat? It's difficult enough with dual controls at your feet when in with a novice driver.

Plus even if you were the worlds best instructor, which you aren't. Do you think your GF will do exactly what you say?? instantly when you say do it?

To be honest you're just asking for trouble. Give it up, pay an instructor to do it properly and safely.

Oh do be quiet.

I've lost my licence 3 times due to the same or similar.
Probably more qualified in what you can get away with and what you can't than most others. :D

Mine were all speeding in a 30 as I used to be your typical Sunday night ricer round the ring road. :D

Not really answering your question....but when I was learning my old man suffered a minor heart attack!

Thankfully he was ok so we laugh about it now - but he likes to mention it every now and then (EVERY day)
