Just come back from a week long trip to Europe, self supported, to cover six countries in six days.
Set off from Beverley in East Yorkshire, near Hull on the overnight ferry to Rotterdam.
England (Hull)
Netherlands (Rotterdam)
Belgium (Kasterlee)
Germany (Aachen)
Luxembourg (Troisvierges)
France (Givet)
(Return through Belgium (Dinant), Netherlands, ferry back to Hull).
I took my Lapierre Pulsium 600 FDJ DISC road bike, but this would have been easily achievable on a gravel bike too, even XC MTB. Total weight of bike plus kit was 14kgs. It rained, every day, although usually in the afternoon. Covered on average 100km a day.
I also took my Durston X-Mid Pro 2, a two man tent, but only slightly larger packed size than the one man. Add to this a superlight air mattress, pillow and Sea to Summit sleeping bag, I was toasty warm and dry every night. Camped at campsites throughout each of the locations.
The route (minus the Hull to Beverley part)

We came across an old railway track which was over 130km in length (and moderately flat). The general vibe towards cyclists in Europe is a real eye opener, and the infrastructure is absolute next level.
Overall, thoroughly enjoyed this, despite the weather, and would highly recommend.
