Well, time for a new log. Been a while since I was logging, mainly due to things like covid, getting divorced, moving house a couple of times, getting cancer (now clear), selling my business and retiring, then remarried. But apart from that not really been up to much

During that I've been continuing the cycling, doing some gym work, was down to about 74kg and life was good. Top 4 abs were just visible and then came the cancer news , treatment and that put my weight up to about 82kg, mainly as a result of the steroids and lack of exercise. (Although after surgery I was showing at 72 for a short time) For more or less a year I was only able to do some light cycling, maybe 150/200km a month at a low intensity, no weights

So

Age now 62 (How did that happen :(
Weight 80.4

Goals by April 26: back to 74kg
dead 150kg
squat 120kg
bench 100kg
cycling back to 260W ftp

rejoined a local gym a couple of months ago which is based on a small class pt approach. In other words there are 8 people at a class, we all follow the same programme but just at our own level. Each class is based on a main lift for each session and then various supplementary exercises. really like the format. In and out of the session in 45 minutes and if I'm feeling that I haven't hit a muscle group properlly I can supplement it at home.

So:
Last session:
paused squats
10X20kg
6X40
6X60
5X70 (5 sets)

Dumbbell push press
6X20 (4 sets)
6X25

Hang clean
3V40
3X45
3X50
3X55
3X60 (2 sets)

Standing broad jumps
3 ses of 5

Plank Ab drive
3 sets of 10.

Bike time. On a training programme for recuperation and a cycling hol with the guys in April to Mallorca.

Zwift FTP builder 10-12 week programme. Currently set control FTP at 220, was at about 260 prior to getting ill. As a quick aside the cycling before this undoubtedly helped recovery. I had a 7 hour abdominal operation but was walking the ward the next day. It also helped my body cope with the crap from the chemo

Plan is to run through this phase, then increase the control to 260 again in time for the holiday plus a couple of sportive round about then, see how it goes . I’m hoping that between this and the strength training I should be in better shape than I was before

Week 5 day 2 36km

Age matters of course but it also depends on how hard a life someone has had over that time, and how they looked after their health.

Some are near on crippled in their 60 while others are doing marathons.

You sound like you can do more than me and I`m 20 years younger than you.

Yeah. I did 30 minutes of MyWhoosh at about 145W. I feel inadequate again. :D

Bear in mind I'm not sitting at that for an hour, that's just the control. I think the average for the session was about 165. Tonights will be lower, it's all Z1/Z2 stuff. Just building endurance.

Trap bar deadlift This is better than normal for me. I have a dodgy sacroiliac joint. Going "heavy" on standard means I can hardly walk for a couple of days
