When Sony announced that they would be using Bluetooth for their wireless controllers most people said “Sweet”. Unfortunately for Sony things have been anything but sweet for their SixAxis controllers. The forums over at Playstation.com are a buzz with complaints about how the SixAxis controller is freezing up and just plain bugging out. There are also reports of the controller needing to be plugged in to be reset with the console over and over again.

Sony has been quiet about this issue and has yet to let us know if it’s a hardware or software problem. They are already working on the HD scaling issue that has many PS3 gamers stuck at 480i [a problem that they might not be able to fix]. Most people thought the extra year of development that went into the PS3 would have made for a more trouble free launch then the 360, but at the end of the day it seems the PS3 is having it fair share of issues

cannot link to the site, sells consoles, ect,ect

Rather basic issues seem to be becoming standard in game consoles now. 360s are still dieing all over the place, Nintendo is killing wiis with firmware updates and can’t even build a wrist strap properly and Sony seem to have designed to the ps3 to constantly frustrate it’s users rather than entertain them. It’s a bit of a sad situation really, people always used to say one of the big benefits of a console (over a PC) was you could just stick the game in, turn it on and your away, it really doesn’t seem that way anymore.

Damn PS£'s suck.

Infact all games consoles suck.

I'm off to play with stick and a wooden hoop.

;)

Seriously though I'm sure any problems whilst annoying will be sorted under warrenty.

Aye, an update over WiiConnect24 affected a limited number of Wii's that needed to be returned to Nintendo.

To be fair to firmware updates causing problems, I think that kind of thing is bound to happen in the first generation of closed-system consoles to really try complex operating systems. All of the new gen's OSs do far more than any of their predecessors did, especially the 360's (and the PS3's I guess, if it's anything alike). Hardware is obviously less forgivable, but its still what you get when they're stuffing the newest and the best chips into the consoles.

And as for the Wii remote strap, if you don't hurl it like a complete spacker, I don't think people will really have that many issues.

Some problems like the firmware updates are probably to be expected (given that PC firmware flashes aren't always trouble free), but things like problems with the interface between controller and machine shouldn't really show up as the connection should be robust enough to cope:/ (i'm guessing it's RF interference on the frequency used).

Even though I've just defended them in a way, I will say that Sony are really having a bit of a stinker with the PS3 so far. It could turn out to be an amazing console, but the amount of delays and problems before and after launch must have made this a nightmare for them. And then to come out with a wireless controller that needs physically connecting to a console to get initially working, and then still proceeds to freak out occasionally, really isn't helping.

hehe i'll stick to what i said back when it was announced that europe would be left out of the PlayStation 3 November 17th Launch.

let people who get it first be the guinepigs and hopefully we will have a more refined console by time we can get out mits on it as a lot of the bugs found after the launch would have been sorted.

Only problem i could se happening is there being yet a bigger delay if things get worse, dout i will buy one until the prices fall on them as its just so expensive.
