I have had a Dell 2007WFP since 2007 which is a S-IPS 20" 1680x1050 monitor.

I feel like as a main monitor it is a little small and its got some weird screen distortion now. I was looking at some 24" 1080p monitors but then noticed you can get 27" 1080p monitors also.

Are the 27" really bad looking at such a low resolution and are the 24" monitors still the go to size?

I don't want to get a monitor with a much higher resolution because I just bought an Nvidia 780 3gb and dint want it to struggle.

27in 1080p will still look good compared to a tiny 20 in monitor, but yeah a 24in would be a better pixel density and still a nice upgrade for you. I couldn't survive with a 20in monitor these days!

I find 1080p @ 27" quite annoying - for me 1080p @ 22" is great.

Any larger and I'd want a higher resolution. With the 780 I'm sure you could go to 2560*1440, and it's a great upgrade for desktop as well as gaming.

I have 2 of them but I think its because I have just grown used to them, my thinking is a 24" main monitor and my 2x20" as a left/right addition would work well.

The thing im worried about is when you see someone using a TV as a monitor and it looks like 100% crap due to the huge screen size and tiny resolution, would hate my monitor to look like that if i did go 27".

My experience with 27'' 1080p has been fantastic, but a lot of people cry as if bitten by a snake about it, so the only way to know is to try it out.
