Hello there,

I am looking at making a new box but not sure if the parts would fit in the case and have enough power / Cooling for them. I was wondering if anyone had done this and whether it all fit etc.

The case I am looking at is the Antec Fusion Black HTPC Case which comes with a 430w PSU.

I think the main problem could be the GFX card which I am looking at the Asus GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express), not sure if that will fit.

In terms of other parts I was looking at these:

LG GGC-H20L Blu-Ray Reader & HD-DVD ROM Serial ATA Drive
GeIL 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz Black Dragon DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
Asus P5E-VM HDMI Intel G35 Micro-ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.50GHz 6MB-cache (1333FSB) Processor

Really looking for a powerful but quiet system that can be left on for a few days at a time without melting. Also like the idea of the HTPC.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks a lot for your time! :-)

personnally i'd go ati 38xx if your gonna use that power supply, also i'd go for 45nm quad to cut down on heat and power

oh and welcome to the forums, btw

Thankyou :)

I think that processor is 45nm:

They're here! The CPU that everyone has been waiting for has finally arrived and it doesn't intend to disappoint! Using the new improved 45nm-process technology and various core improvements (inc SSE4) over the previous 'Kentsfield' model this new 'Yorkfield' technology is the absolute market-leader in performance and annhialates the competition and benchmarks alike.
