size of post

Everyone does, it just happens that way.

Makes the forum a lot nicer looking if you ask me as it breaks posts up rather than just a constant stream of text.

If you look at this post, you can see it's actually just a fixed size (8 lines), not an extra say + 4 lines. This makes it look very uniform and is the reason that I feel sick when looking at other forums without this.

See, no extra lines.

Aha forget what I said, it's to do with the size of your avatar and information below it.

He doesn't have one, hence there's nothing to take up extra space on the side. We all have identically sized avatars so that's why it appears that we all get + whatever.

any idea how to easily create a link to a specific post on a thread?
I didn't know how to do this until I remembered that clicking the "newest post" button next to a thread will take you to a specific post whilst keeping the rest visible. For instance:

Code:
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17538642
-this is the whole thread link. Note the thread number as it exists in the database.

Code:
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&postid=6492147#post6492147
-This is a link to a specific post in that same thread. Note how the thread number is gone and it is replaced by the post number in two places; next to &postid= and next to #post. Find the post number you're looking for by viewing it as a single post, copy it from the URL, and insert it into this format.

Oh, and the reason shorter posts have blank lines after them is so the whole avatar can fit at the side. If you don't use an avatar, you won't see the forum making room for it.
