Shot some skaters the other day, I'm not too happy with the results, my shutter speeds were a little slow due to using a polariser, and the little screen made me think it was fine, but it wasnt on closer inspection, so I'll be back with a faster lens :)

Anyway these are the better ones;

Uhm, why were you shooting at f/13.0 and f/8? Having a faster lens and won't make a difference if your lens has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 or f/8, you're still going to get slow shutter speeds at those apertures? :confused: :confused:

I assume you were using a flash?

You're right, but I didn't explain it properly.

My cheaper, slower zoom lenses need to be stopped down to f/8 to be at their best optically and the truth is the kit lens is crap wide open. A fast prime will achieve much better sharpness without having to stop down that far. f4 or f5.6 will already be good on my 50mm or 35mm primes.

Ahhh i see, sorry! Didn't know what lenses you were using :D

My kit lens was the same before i sold it, 7.1 was the sweet spot for it. Now i'm saving up for a 17-40L so that should be nice 5.6 :D
