Having completed my first ever attempt at Building/Modding a few weeks back (a build mod of the Antec Skeleton)

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18059119

I seem to have caught something of a bug for it.

One of the big crticisms of the Skeleton over the year or so its been around is that it's no good if you have kids or pets, as the access to the fragile hardware is too easy. Antec appear to have taken note of this and have released a "mesh kit". The kit restricts access to inquisitive fingers, while at the same time maintaining the open and industrial look of the case.

The kit is easy to fit, needing only a screw driver and about 30 mins, and can be taken out at any time. The mesh is of good quality and is considerably thicker and stronger than the ACRyan modding mesh

As soon as I can get some hardware together I'm planning to mod this. Haven't decided on a colour scheme yet, but have a few ideas. Aslo very open to suggestions as to what you guys think would look good.

Ideas so far are
All white
All white frame but with raspberry mesh
All midnight blue frame with white mesh
Orange frame with white or maybe black mesh.

Any ways, a few pics of what you get with the mesh kit and how it all goes together.

Haannng on, have you bought another of the same case? Why didn't you just fit the mesh kit to the one you already modded?

Kinda wanted to do another, as I still have some ideas left over that I didn't incorperate into my last build. I toyed with the idea of a standard case, but I like working on this and not many people are modding it so most ideas are fresh.

I'm not intendeing to chop the cowling on this one, as from running my original skeleton pre mod with "low end" cooling i'm pretty convinced I can acheive a good OC with stock or low end cooling on either i7 or i5.

liking the ideas guys,

what's digital???

what colour braiding with the stealth??? I like to make a feature of the cabling usually, but maybe not this time???

Like the fans idea, but where would you put them???

Liking all the ideas. (especially for some reason I can't quite put my finger on the first "clicky")

Like the cam scheme, but not sure there's enough surface area to get the full effect though???

What do you think to a predominantly white theme? perhaps even with white braiding?

Or high gloss black with white mesh and white braiding with black anti kink coils???

Cheers rhysduck, you're starting to sway me....

Still not sure how you see the fans being worked in though???

Re anti kink coils, i've been using them for a while with this case. As there's no really effective way to hide the cables in this case I think the best thing is to make a feature of them and adding the anti kink coils meant for watercooling adds to the effect. I've been through a few incarnations with the case I'm currently using....

Original build was UV blue braiding with orange anti kink

then had a bit of a change around, which I don't think worked as well
orange braiding with blue anti kink (now that was adventurous wasn't it???)

Then the latest jobby. Black and yellow.

Thanks for the feedback rhysduck. it's actually pretty easy to hide ccfls in this case as it is leds etc.

you have however given me a few ideas re the fans in that although it doesn't need it, for effect I may add some fans to the outside of the mesh, enhancing the industrial look.

linky for you if you haven't already seen it from the top of the thread.

Love the mobo, and thanks for the link.

Really torn between a military style mod and something a bit more stealthy.

If I went military I'm thinking of something themed around the nose art seen on Huey Gunships of the Vietnam war, most of the case would be Matt olive drab, with the cowling having the sharks teeth as used be on the noses of the Hueys.

Kinda like this sort of thing (couldn't actually find any good ones of hueys)

What do you think??

Thanks for the feed back guys. I'm pretty much settled on the olive drab and the sharks mouth motif.

Kinda feels right, and always been a huge fan of the huey.

Can't wait to see it finished! :D

can't wait to get it started, just trying to pluck up the enthusiasm to head out to the workshop now that's it's all turned cold and dark in the evenings...

What a wimp eh??

Also paint tends not to like low temps so a few real probs there.

Real men do it inside the house.... :P

(Only me and Daddy here, so the house is full of bits of motorbikes and computers.)

Workshops not a bad place, just not very warm in winter. probably not a good idea to spraypaint in the house

a: because it gets everywhere
b: because if I did get it eveywhere my wife would make me live in the workshop not just work in it

Cheers Bluntside. Good to hear from you again and thanks for the support.

I still remember the "original" mesh you you did, work of art. and the facepalm when it was discovered that Antec did one themselves.

Like the idea of the black still, have pretty much ditched all ideas of white and red or orange and black and the like, If I go for the mil look the only thing i'm not too sure about is the sharks head motif. Might be a bit too much (work). Plus as I intend to move the case on afterwards i'm looking for something marketable.

Hey g-dubs, ur a master with modding skelly's hehe. like ur ideas btw, imo the shark teeth look really good i asume u would use that on thefront of the cowling seems the logical location. u could re-try the nose cone idea u was toying with for the fans use it for the front fan maybe? i might have changed case myself but im still a skelly fan :)

Glad to hear you're still a skelly fan, i'm still new to modding so along way from being a master, but I think I know what you're talking about??
