Ski instructor courses

I just have come back from skiing and decided next year i want to do a season and get ski instructor status. However i have been looking at websites and find that the courses run until quite late in the year end of march. I would like to go travelling to mexico that year for about 3 months and just wondered if anyone knew any courses that run fro about November to end of Feb. I would like to do the course in whistler if possible ???/

I don't know about courses. I've also just returned from a skiing holiday yesterday, and talking with the instructors, learn that they find that the most stringent requirement for them to be able to instruct in France is that in downhill skiing they must be able to achieve times within 17% of the world record. It seems quite an incredible requirement to me. Maybe other countries have different regulations.

When I have applied in the past to be a mountain guide it has been a requirement that you have had at least 20 weeks worth of experience. Don't know if this is the same for being an instructor.

Try contacting the Ski Club of Great Britain, if you think that you have the potential to be a professional instructor.

It's more likely, however, that they won't want to know, as you appear to just want to go for a season, rather than making a career out of it.

I imagine that doing a private course will cost an arm and a leg, with no guarantee of work at the end.
