Brother has a 2014 Fabia 1.2 TDI which has been working ok but while driving home last week on the motorway the car started to judder so pulled over and idles fine for around 10 seconds than the revs drop and engine cuts out. When restarting the car and applying any revs the car would instantlt cut out. (car would judder as no fuel as can see in video)
He did mention a few months back he noticed his mpg had dropped but put it down to change of weather.
He has had 3 mechanics look at the car, the only code that appeared on the car was for the EGR valve but when inspected found the EGR valve is working ok and is clean. Next they check all sensors & also the fuel pump/filter and again everything on the fuel side is working ok.
2nd mechanic turned up and again check for any codes but no codes are appearing. After a couple of hours he finally got the car running by removing a sensor from the turbo (turbo boost sensor? ) and would rev above 2000rpm for a short while but again was notrunning as it should. No power, engine is shaking a bit I think when it shuts down. When plugging the sensor back in back to square 1.
3rd mechanic who has again checked all sensors, turbo, DPF ect and he says that everything looks ok and working as should be. This 1 thinks it could be the crank shaft (think it was sensor) or could be the timing is out as it's skipping 2 teeth (belt was replaced about 10,000 miles ago)
Any ideas what could be problem or where to look as everyone just wants to run diagnostic tests on their computers, charge him and say they have no idea.
