Like most offices it is a sin to leave your computer unlocked and if so you find that someone has kindly sent a dozen emails to people stating that you should never leave your computer unlocked.

My colleague knows how to remotely open the cd drive as one of these pranks and I was wondering if anyone knows how this is done?

Also what are your funniest SKOOL BOY pranks you have done to colleagues and how were they done if on the computer?

Thanks

Flick that red 110v/230v switch on the back on the PSU to 110v, for a rather loud bang when the comptuer is next powered up!:D

for something less sackable i would take a pic of someones desktop and use it as a backround then hide all real icons and sit back and watch

Get on MS word or an equivilent (sp), then use the automatic word changer, and change a random word to something naugher. E.g. Internet to Nipples.

Find two desks that back on to each other and swap the vga cables arround. What's typed on one desk will appear on the screen on the other desk and vice versa... ;)

Use the admin share to plant loads of pr0n on someones machine, and then report them?

Swap the keys around on a keyboard, or swap keyboard/mouse cables between different PCs.

Create a mockup of the login screen and no matter what credentials they enter have it throw up an error message. We did this in college in a computing lesson to a lad nobody liked. He reckoned he was the gods gift of computers and it was rather funny to see him get owned by something it took us a few minutes to setup in VB :D

when your friend leaves the computer and its unlocked put pron on the screen and say sir he has pron on his screen :). I did that once and teacher put his computer screen onto the big projector so everyone could see what he was looking at lmao. Good day that was

Also swap the keyboard and mouse.

This way, they just have each other's base units, and won't realise... until someone presses their power switch and the other PC shuts down.
Or if they insert a CD/USB, it will do nothing on theirs, but shows up on the other PC. Confuses the hell out of them for HOURS.

EDIT:
Oh, and whatever you do, tell them to come to this forum for "tech support" ;)

that is ingenious!

Blu-Tak in the hole where the optical sensor is on a mouse. Works a treat.

Also, try this one yourself.

Goto the shutdown prompt, hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift and click cancel.

I normally introduce this to colleagues by saying "Do you want to see a magic trick" ;)

they're stored in eventviewer, someone got their bonus (£3k ish) denied for doing a "morning sexy" to her boyfriend in my work!

We've had people "leave" because of abuse of this also, so be warned.

if its someone who sits opposite or near you, plug in an extra usb mouse into the back of their pc

keep it under the desk and kick it every now and again, you'll hear a lot of groans from the user
