Skt A Memory Upgrade

My father has an Skt A computer. Its an AMD 2500 Barton CPU and 1GB of memory installed. The Mobo is an Asus A7N8X-E. I have some spare memory I would like to upgrade him to maybe 1.5Gb or even 2GB.

Would his system take the memory upgrade?

He as XP Pro running as his OS as well

It won't make too much difference that there 2 different brands, will it? There both running at the same speed of PC3200
