That was my next question :)

Stelly

i got a million and one questions, lol but that was the first one, just so i know roughly how much a basic system would cost, if its expensive like he said it is for 4 sticks you should be talking at least £200, so if you wanna build a system with this motherboard, its gonna cost about £1500 all in

my next question after the ram is

could you run the motherboard with 1 cpu and 2 sticks of ram, with the possibility of upgrading later on with another cpu and another 2 sticks of ram

will the motherboard take 2 different cpu's. e.g. a 2ghz cpu and a 2.83ghz cpu?

im guessing this is mainly for server applications only and for hardcore video encoders/decoders, etc.

and Stelly no you cant buy one just for folding it would be a terrible waste of money

lol didnt know that

thats poor as hell for the price, but i imagine encoding any kind of video would go like lightning

no good for much else :o

this is what happens when theres no competition from AMD

we really need someone like bill gates to start a new company manufacturing processors, its gonna take all of his money in research and development though

Thats not going to happen, I hope that IBM sort something out, I have heard murmors about them thinking about going into the home user market with chips..

and there would be nothing wrong with folding with one of them ;)

Stelly

spec'd you a new rig for folding stelly, sorry it doesnt include ram because ive no idea wha fbdimm is

i reckon with that rig your folding power should cripple anyone else so long as you can get the ram of course

comes to £5511 including delivery, i will buy this rig if i win the lottery this week

Lol, what the hell do you think Mac Pro's use? Xeons.

They're not made for overclocking, I doubt IBM Power6 CPU's have good multi's, because they're not made for running Crysis. I'd love to know how Xeons aren't good for much else when they're premium server grade pieces of kit.
